Happy Holidays! by Mrs. Hudson

I usually let the 5th graders do all the talking on the blog, but I just wanted to drop by and wish everyone a wonderful holiday season full of fun, rest and relaxation, and time with the people you love. I'll look forward to seeing everyone in 2015!

Christmas Vacation by Caleb

Hi, my name is Caleb. I am going to talk about Christmas Vacation. Over the Christmas Break, my family and I are going to see some Christmas lights on the night before Christmas. I'm so excited that Christmas is coming up in 7 DAYS!  I'm getting the Erasable Colored Pencils. Erasable Colored Pencils are more like regular pencils, but they have color on them! I'm also getting a Lamborghini Toy Car for Christmas and Crazy-Sand! If you are interested in these Christmas things, you could get them for Christmas, too!

Christmas Break! by Brighton

I am so excited for Christmas!! Christmas is only 7 days away! I wonder what I'll get? Every year I go to Jacksonville, Florida, where I see my family and friends. It's also where I get to stay up all night, and finally get a break to do stuff! I can't wait to go to Jacksonville!!

Okay, so, my fellow bloggers and I were arguing about if it is better to know what your presents are, or if it is better to let it be a surprise. (It's the surprise one!) What do you think?! (Comment below.)

My Christmas Break!!!!! By Julia Lane

Well, there is exactly a week away until Christmas! Every Christmas Eve, my family goes to my grandma's house. My grandparents get us presents, we eat a lot, and... yeah, that's what we do there! Then when we get home, we change into our Christmas Pj's, and I read The Night Before Christmas. After that, we open one present, then go to sleep! Then on Christmas morning, we wake up, yell at our parents to get up, and then they get the camera! We go out to the living room, and............ OPEN PRESENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom makes cinnamon rolls, or bacon, or something like that. We just play around with our new stuff all day! That's basically all I do, no vacations, or anything! I think it's very fun! So, MERRY CHRISTMAS, and have a GREAT DAY!!!!

Christmas Break By Julian

Yes, finally Christmas break is finally here. I've been waiting for this since the beginning of the school year. My favorite part of the last week before winter break is the last day because there is always a party with lots of food and stuff like that. Another reason is because it's the longest break of the year. Instead of like a couple days or a week, it's 2 weeks. That is why I like Christmas Break.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS By: ARIANA

Happy Christmas!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to get out of school for winter break. Why? Because we get to celebrate Christmas. I cannot wait to get all the presents and eat. Oh, Christmas is my favorite holiday. What is your favorite holiday? Can you wait until winter break? I know I can't. Well, everybody, I hope you have a MERRRRY CHRISTMAS.

What I Am Getting for Christmas By: Lamar

My teacher's name is Ms.England. I have been a new student at Chase Street for 3 years. This is my third year at Chase Street. One thing that I like about 5th grade is that you get to go on fun trips, for example the High Museum!

Now that you know a little bit about me, I am going to tell you more about what I am going to get for Christmas. The thing I want the most is a game system called a PlayStation 4, and I am getting four games, but I don't want to say all of them. One other thing I am doing is I am going to Florida for the first day of winter break. I know what you're thinking. You're thinking that I'm going to see my family members, but no, I am just going there for vacation. The thing that I don't want to do is go to Florida. I can already feel that it's going to be boring.

Musical By: ARIANA

We have been practicing this special musical. It is coming very soon, December 9, 2014, at Chase Street School at 6:00. There are going to be Christmas songs. It is going to be fun. I hope you will enjoy it. We will be more than happy for you to come.

Thanksgiving Break by Caleb

Over Thanksgiving break, my cousins came over and we played a lot. My cousins' names are Cameron and Erin. They spent one night, and they left on Friday afternoon at 12:15. We played Connect Four, Sorry, and I taught them how to play FIFA 14. FIFA 14 is a soccer video game where you are playing against a other team. You get a chance to pick your team, and they have half time. If the score is 0 to 0, you have to take the penalties. You get 6 tries, and who ever has the most shots wins the game. Then, I taught my cousins how to play the Sonic game. My cousin Cameron won second place every time and I was so proud of him for winning second place. Finally, they left at 12:15! I enjoyed playing with them, and I guess they had an awesome time too!

The Christmas Parade by: Julia L.

Last night was the Christmas Parade in Downtown! There were TONS of awesome, creative floats! There was someone who popped a REALLY TALL wheelie! One float had bubbles shooting out of it, and it looked like real snow! There was a bus with tons of lights all over it, and they called it The Polar Express! When everyone was leaving, there was basically another parade of people! I saw some of my friends there. On some of the floats, people had bands playing Christmas songs! It was very fun! They threw out tons of stuff, but my brother and I didn't get anything!! But, it was still very fun!!

Basketball Game By: Julian

This Saturday I have a really big basketball game. It is the state team--which I am on--vs. The Atlanta city team. The game is for the championship which will be the first championship in 10 years. Right now I average 25 points and 6.5 assists. The Atlanta team has been playing really well in the last few weeks,

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="318"] Picture from westsidetoday.com[/caption]

averaging 95 points playing with 1 hour playing time. This will be the best accomplishment that I have done in basketball.

You can blog about your school year, about your weekend, book fair, field trip, favorite book, coming up events, rehearsal, moving to a new house, and holidays. After that, you get a chance to put a picture along with your paragraph! If you are in the fourth grade, you should join the blog next year. I bet you going to have a blast!

All About Me by:ARIANA

My name is Ariana. I am in the 5th grade. My homeroom teacher is Mrs.Stokes. I have been a student in Chase Street for about 4 years and 3 months. One thing I like about 5th grade is that you get to do some fun experiments. One thing I don't like about 5th grade is that you have to do a lot of tests. Something I did over the summer was having a lot of parties with my friends. Something that's interesting about me is that I like spending time with my family and friends.

Book clubs ( Moon Over Manifest) by Brighton

Today is book club day. I am reading the book Moon Over Manifest. So far it is pretty good. Although I had to read it all last night! The book is about a girl who has to go to a town called Manifest because her dad is working on the railroad. She stays with a guy named Shady, and on the first night that she was there she found a Lucky Bill cigar box. It has letters, gadgets, etc. In the letters, it brings up something about a spy, but I don't want to spoil it for you. Anyway it is pretty interesting. I wonder what my book club has to say about it.

Disaster Strikes by Caleb

Hi, my name is Caleb. I got a book called Disaster Strikes. It is a very good book, and the characters are Dylan and Fiona. The book is about an earthquake destroying the road. Their dad was on the way home from work and the road started to shake. Dylan got caught in the earthquake and he called Fiona.  Fiona  helped Dylan to get out of the earthquake. Next time when  book fair comes up, I think you should get the book called Disaster Strikes, and it's ONLY for $5.00!

Georgia lost to Florida By Julian

Last Saturday, Georgia played their bitter rivals the Florida Gators. Georgia was coming in ranked number nine in the AP polls and 11 in the college playoff standings. Coming into the game, we were a 13 point favor over the Gators, but midway through the 1st half we knew it was going to get rough. In the game Nick Chubb, the replacement for predicted Heisman running back Todd Gurley, had 156 yards and a touchdown. At the end of the third quarter, Florida was lining up for a field goal. Georgia lined up in a normal formation, but when the ball was snapped, the holder Michael McNeely took the ball and went around left end. When the Georgia defense reacted to the play, it was too late, and Florida had scored. Georgia was predicted to have a brilliant season even without star quarterback Aaron Murray, but we lost to South Carolina which hurt us, then the loss to Florida which pretty much ruined our chances at the newly acquired College Football Playoff with four teams that play for the National Championship. This was a terrible loss to a terrible team. Hopefully we will not have the same result this week against the Kentucky Wildcats.

Red Ribbon Week by Julia L.

This week at school, we have had a Red Ribbon Week. On every day, we wore things differently then we usually would. On Monday, the first day, we wore hats. That represented to put a cap on drugs! On Tuesday, we dressed the same as a friend. That meant to help friends be drug free! On Wednesday, we wore mix matched clothes. That meant that, drugs and I don't mix! We could have won a prize the next day for the most mix matched, but I didn't get one. My friends got some, so that was good! On Thursday, we had to wear a shirt with a number on it, and that meant, count on me to be drug free! And finally, on Friday, it was a red out day. That meant, love yourself and be drug free! I always enjoy this part of the year! But, it is my last year at Chase, and I had a great last Red Ribbon Week!

Trapeze!!! By Brighton

I go to a place called Canopy where I learn to do trapeze. I love trapeze so much! There are so many things to do! Every Saturday my friends and I go to class, where we learn tricks and routines. In December we are going to do a show. We recently started our routine. So far it is not too hard but we did start our routine a week ago. My next class is tomorrow, and I am really excited! I hope we use the sea horse in it! Since it is a Christmas show our theme is going to be The Nightmare before Christmas. I wonder if we will look good? I can't wait to find out!

A Series of Unfortunate Events by Jack

Let me tell you about my favorite book series, The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. It is about three children who have lost their parents in a fire while they were at the beach. The kids, Klaus,Violet, and Sunny were unaware of this until bank owner Mr.Poe told them. However their parents owned rare sapphires that were not burned down in the fire. They are going to get it back when they are older, but they have a mean guardian named Count Olaf who tried to steal their fortune. He dresses up in a lot of disguises to get the children's  fortune. They meet a lot of people on the way and experience things that were really unfortunate. This is why it is my favorite book series. I hope you try it.

Fall Festival From Caleb Miller

Hi, my name is Caleb. On Saturday, I went to a fall festival and it is located where they built a building called Northeast Georgia Bank. I won a golden medal for a hula hoop contest. They had me to pat my head and rub my tummy while hula hooping and I was the only person standing. Next, I went on a big climbing ladder and when you get on the on the big slide and you slide down, you go super fast! After that, I had to hula hoop and wave at each car passing by and if you wave at least 10 cars you earn a prize and my brother had not won anything, so I gave my brother a prize.I had enjoy the fall festival.

High Museum Trip By Julian

In a couple weeks, for art we are going on a trip to the High Museum. I'm not sure what exhibit we are going to see, but I know one thing: it will be super cool. I have been to the High Museum a couple of times already but I think this time will be a totally different experience because the past couple of times I've been it's just been two people, me and my grandma, but this time it will be the whole 5th grade. When we go we will be taking huge charter buses that supposedly have TV's. I think this will be the coolest field trip I've ever done before because It's a long way away in Atlanta. When we go you better not be late because we are leaving really as soon as we get to school then get back even after everybody else in the school has gone home.

Today's Weather Report by Jack

I know that  some big storms are happening in this area so let me share what I know about the weather in the area. You might not believe it but we have flash floods and flood warnings which are going to be intense. We are just getting started. You are going to find out what is coming: lots of lightning in the area with lots and lots of thunder and maybe we will not be able to drive. I think you will never believe this but there are strong winds that are going sixty miles per hour and the winds are so strong that the winds are knocking cars off the street. There might be a warning that says do not drive until the storm is over. I hope that does not happen because I want to see my parents and I want to be outside playing soccer and having a lot of fun.

Skate night By Julian

PTO is having a skate night soon. This is one of my favorite school related events of the year. Everybody at school including teachers come. They play music, play games, eat food, etc. When you go there are really good skaters and there are beginner skaters, also all grade levels can come pre-k through 5th grade and some pre-k students are better skaters than 5th graders!

Baseball Games by Julia L.

My little brother has baseball games every Sunday and Tuesday. He is 6, so he does Coach Pitch. It is SOOOOO boring! (Most of the time). He plays at Holland Park. He has about 8 or 9 kids on his team. They are all short, but good at playing! His team name is Raymond and James. They all have names of different brands and places like that. I don't even know what Raymond and James is! We like to call them the RJ's. Sometimes, I get to help out in the dugout! Back to the boringness, luckily my cousin/best friend--who is 3 weeks younger than me-- is coming this Sunday, so I won't be as bored! She has 2 little brothers, and they are both a year apart from MY brother, so they are best friends. They really want to see my brother play! I like to see my brother play most of the time!

Dead Cat-Daisy

My cat Doc died on Wednesday. He had a heart worm.  It would be really expensive to get medicine, and he would live a miserable life. My brother cried for 3 hours. I miss my cat. I got him 5 years ago for my 5th birthday (I am 10 now). He lived to be 25 years in cat years. He was born on March, 4th 2009. He had  a sister named Coco that we bought too! She is still alive. This is what he sorta looked like when he was a kitten.

MLK Project By Julian

In the library this week we are doing something special. We are entering into a contest a piece of writing or artwork that expresses how we can make Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream come true. Winners will be recognized at a Board meeting, as well as the University of Georgia's annual Freedom Breakfast, which I think is really cool. Most people in my class are doing artwork but I am doing writing, I am writing about littering because I want to fight that like MLK fought segregation.

Civil War Trunk by Julia L.

In 5th grade, we are talking about the Civil War. There is a cool trunk that Mrs.Upchurch found on a cool website. A bunch of schools borrow it for a week. It just gets shipped to UPS when our week is over! It had lots of cool pictures, old comics, clothes, and other things like gear! It was really cool! The comics were old, but it showed us what was funny in the 1800's. It was neat! There were a few clothes like, dresses, hats, shoes, jackets, and a few other things like that. We could try them on!!! It was awesome! (and funny!) There was some old bullets, cotton, and old books! Everything was really neat! They were all copies of the REAL things, but they were all very realistic! We all enjoyed it a lot! It taught us a few things we didn't know about the Civil War!

No Idea-Daisy

I have no idea what to write. So I will write about not knowing what to write. This post will probably be the most boring one of all time!!!!!!!! I recently found out that we do not have school on Monday Oct. 13. All because a dude that did not even discover America. :(  He needs to rise from the dead so we can sue him. He even mistook America for India!

The Watsons Go To Birmingham By Caleb

Hi, my name is Caleb. I'm reading The Watsons Go To Birmingham and I like to read this book. This book is talking about  their mother from Alabama. Their conflict is in Michigan.  It is cold outside and it is -20 degrees up North . They were holed  up in the family room  on the couch. Then, dad was watching the news on the TV . I can make a connection  to the book, when it was cold outside we got to holed up in the blanket. My favorite part in  the book because this guy  said to the family" I heard about the news up North it is going to be cold."

Book fair by Julia L.

We have 2 book fairs every year. They are always a week. This year's book fair is in October. There are always good books to pick out! For younger kids, the  book fair has LOTS of picture books! There are also lots of chapter books, journals, cookbooks, how-tos and many more books! If you are 2-16 I think you will definitely find a good book for you! Book fair is very fun!

Clubs By Julian

The club that I am in is chess. It is super fun. We are doing a tournament right now I am moving on to the second round of the tournament which is cool. The reason that I chose chess club is because chess is a thinking sport and I really like that. I have to think about what my opponent is doing and what I am going to do when my opponent moves and that is why I chose chess club.

Clubs by Julia

Every Friday, we have clubs at Chase. But only 4th and 5th grade has clubs. At the beginning of the year, we picked clubs. We had 5 choices- Chorus, Engineering, Art/drawing, Chess, and Team Sports. I am in Engineering this semester, and Art next semester. We picked clubs by picking our 1-5 favorite choices. It took a loooong time for the teachers to put us in clubs, so it was very nice of them to do that!!! Clubs are really fun!!!

Clubs by Brighton

I am in the Art club and it is awesome! I love art SO much! I wish clubs were longer! Today in art we worked on 2 point perspective. It was kind of hard but still fun! I am looking forward to our 2 big projects! I cant tell you what they are yet,but they are amazing!

Fifth Grade Cell Pizza By Caleb M.

Hi my name is Caleb. I'm in Mrs.Stokes's class. When I was learning about cells, I got a chance to make cell pizza. We  put the bread first .Then, I put  the sauce on top of the bread . I decided  to have the pepperoni  as an ingredient. Then , we put  olives on the  pizza and I don't like olives.  At last , I put on peppers. Then, Mrs.Stokes  had to heat up the cell pizzas. We ate  our pizza  the next day. The toppings showed the parts of the cell.

Scantron and Other things- by Daisy J.

16 people in 5th  grade had to take the math and reading Scantron. Including me. Plus side: I got to skip my least favorite subject, writing. Down side: had to actuality take the test. Our progress reports are coming out soon. I am jumping off the walls in anticipation and chewing my nails off with dread! Let's go back in time... I hate writing because it takes a lot of waiting. Let's go back in time again. I am dreading report cards because it lets your parent know how you are doing in school! Torture!

Fifth Grade by Jack

  • Fifth grade rocks. It is awesome, but it is still easy. I eat a home lunch when I go to lunch. Being a blogger makes school really fun. I like school because I am having a lot of friends that are really fun to hang out with when I see them at school. I also like the things we are also doing in school that is fun. We are learning really cool subjects in school like learning about the five kingdoms in the animal kingdom and a lot about vertebrates and invertebrates.

Review of 14 Cows for America by Cash (Shared by Julia)

In the library, we read 14 Cows for America, by Carmen Deedy. This is Cash's review of it.

Cash's review

(And here is my review!)

By Julia L.
14 Cows for America by Carmen Deedy, is about a boy named Kimeli who studies in NYC to be a doctor. He visits his tribe in Africa, and tells them about the Twin Towers incident, and the tribe blesses 14 cows for America. Always respect people who respect you. I am always nice to people who are nice to me. America respected the tribe, and the tribe respected America.

Review for 14 Cows For America By Louise (Shared by Julian)

In the library this week we read the book 14 Cows for America after that we wrote reviews about the story. This is my friend Louise's review.

Louise's review

And here is my review

By Julian A.
The book 14 Cows for America by Carmen Deedy is about a person named Kimeli who goes to New York and witnessed 9/11, then came back to his tribe the Maasai in Kenya. They blessed 14 cows in honor of America. I think the theme of this story is even if it is something you care about always be able to give it away to make somebody happy. I made a lot of connections when I read this book, like when something bad happened to me some friends gave stuff to me. This book reminded me to be able to give something away for happiness.

My homeroom teacher is Mrs. Wilcox, I have been at chase street for 7 years. One thing I don't love about fifth grade is that we have a lot of homework and a lot of responsibility. One thing I do love about fifth grade is that all the teachers are really nice and the students are really cool. One thing I did over the summer is I went to a overnight camp for three weeks  and we had a lot of night activities like capture the flag, dances, it was super fun. One interesting fact about me is that I am a national state swimmer. My favorite event in swimming is the 200 i.m.

Last Day of Bloggers - Hayyah

Today is the last day of bloggers. It's just going to be way to busy to do bloggers for the next couple of weeks. Surprisingly, I'm going to be pretty sad. I had a great time blogging about stuff I did or learned. I  have to say, I really hope there's still going to be bloggers next year in Clarke Middle. To be honest, it's going to be boring in ELA on Thursday's. Nothing to do, post, or play. It's just a sad day for bloggers. I will miss this place even though we might still come here for library visits.

Last Day of Bloggers :c Remi

This is our last day of bloggers.

It has come and gone so fast .

But this is our last blog.

It's so sad :c .

I'm going to miss this place.

I'm going to miss not going  to E.L.T .

Boo-hoo-hoo:( -Anaiya

Today is the last day of blogging the the library!

Next Thursday  was supposed to be the last day but we have a lot of stuff going on.

Like the 5th grade writing test.

Also 5th graders have benchmark.

After the week with the benchmark and writing test it will spring break.

After spring break, everything will  be back to normal.

But Ms.Hudson will be gone taking care of her new baby!

She won't be back util the end of the school year.

I will definitely miss her!

Ms.Hudson -Ietta

This is our very last blogging day with Ms.Hudson.  With Melvie, her baby, coming so soon, this is the last time we'll be together, though some us might still blog alone.  We will miss these times and will forever keep them in our hearts.  We have all come to meet and enjoy our last day here, with freedom.  We have been here for awhile and come here willingly, because we llllllllllooooooooovvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeeee blogging.  Love!  Love!  Love it!

Soon to Go - Cassius

This may be my last post for the blog.  The reasons why I'm might stop blogging early are: Mrs.Hudson is having a baby soon so she needs to take care of that.  Also while she is gone the library will have a substitute teacher and the sub will not be leading the blogging group.  I REALLY don't want to leave blogging because it is a lot better than some E.L.T. days when you just practice or something like that.    Plus, we were chosen to do this blogging thing in the library and it's not a good feeling to let it down a lot earlier than usual.  Really the only good news about this is I still get to blog when I'm home or something like that.  I just can't blog with the group in the library anymore.  I hope to still make posts but I cannot guarantee it though.  Please post comments below.  A bunch of comments would help.

Writer's Block - Remi

I could not think about what to write about.

It feels like a caveman hitting a rock to make a fire.

It hurts your head trying to think.

It's is not fun. It hurts a lot.

-Danaya VALENTINES DAY

Friday, February 14, 2014 is Valentine's Day.In my opinion Valentine's Day is the   best day to show your love. Now 99% of people on the earth has secret valentine and I am one of those people. SNOW DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-Ada

Last week to our surprise it snowed! It was very exciting because it hasn't snowed in three years and because we got to get out of school for about three days. We also got to play in the snow which is very exciting because most of the 5th graders in this school have not played in the snow since they were eight. Also when we were out of school we got to spend quality time with our families. But soon the snow melted away and we had to return to school.

Writing Class -Cassius T.

In the 5th grade writing class we have to write from  a prompt given to our class from previous years.  In my opinion, the prompts are not detailed enough so you have a very vague idea of how your story will roll.  We get the prompts by voting on opinion writing, narrative writing, or informational writing.

We also have a very limited time period to pre-write, draft, edit, and publish.  Probably my LEAST favorite part of writing is pre-writing.  It's just kinda boring in many cases like having to add more and more detail into pre-writing when you  do not have  fully developed idea of your story, letter, or essay.

Most everything else in writing is fine.  I like writing because  I think it is important in life and is a good life skill to have. I am glad we have writing class because it can help me do the things I want to do.  Really the only problem I have with it is the very stressful time period to work and publish.  It is also very stressful to think about the writing test in which you have no teacher help and you have to write an entire two week prompt into two hours.  Overall I think that writing class is very important to have and I enjoy having a great school that can help me later on.

The Secret -Ietta

Our teachers are keeping a secret from us students.  My friend and I have been trying to find out what it is.  We know it has to do with, it has to do with immigrants coming to America.  Last week, the teachers sent out slips of paper asking for student' parents to help out with THE SECRET.  My friend and I both have theories on what THE SECRET could be, but I should not tell them because they might be right.  We will do whatever we can to find out THE SECRET.

Valentines Day -Anaiya

Last year on February 13 in Mrs. Barrett's class, we each got a paper bag and decorated it for Valentine's Day. I decorated mine with a big red heart and with a cupid. I also stamped some little red hearts onto it. After we glued everything we left it so it could dry for the next day. On February 14 everybody got their candy and cards and passed everything out to one another. After everything was passed out we got our bags and put every drop of candy and cards into it. Once we did that Mrs. Barrett took us outside to have recess. I took out my super bouncy ball that one of my classmates brought and played with that. Other people from my class took theirs out and played with theirs too. It was really fun.

Snow Day!!! - Hayyah

Last week we had snow! I was really happy because it was the first time I've ever seen snow. I used to live in California, and where I stayed it NEVER snowed. We got to get a half day and a day off in school. All I did was basically play in the snow until I got bored. When we arrived back to school it wasn't snowing anymore but there was still snow on the ground. We had a snowball fight and I have to admit it, I had a great time. Although I fell and got mud all over my pants.I hope it snows again!

Electricity by Remi

In our class we are studying electricity this week.

My favorite is static   electricity. It's the funnest one to use.

We are doing lots of experiments with electricity.

It's lots of fun.

Spelling Bee -Da'Naya

Today we had the spelling be and it was fun. It was only spellers from 4th and 5th grade. The contestants were Ada, Anaiya, Danaya, Jack, Siena, Trinity, Thomas, Eloise, Alana, Luke, Asia, Anna, Lena, Clayton, Roan, Holland, Julia, Ismail.

These are all the 18 contestants. The winner was Thomas and  the runner-up was Anna. It was sad at sometimes. Although everybody got money for participating.

Spelling Bee -Ietta

Today was the school spelling bee and nobody lost in the first round.  Our school had a 5th grade boy winner and  a 4th grade girl runner-up.  This was not like any other year, because the runner-up was a 4th grader that got to the last round.  The audience was really quiet during the entire thing.  The contestants were really nervous because a whole bunch of parents were there.  I think this year was better than any other.

Writing - Hayyah

In grammar/writing we are doing an Informational story about a new product that we invented or improved. It seems kind of easy to me because I'm always thinking of things to build or improve on. I found this kind of fun but challenging at the same time. I am not really sure what I will be doing yet. I'm going really have to think about what I'm going to do, but I'm sure it will be awesome.

Spelling Bee -Anaiya

Today we had the spelling bee. Before the spelling bee we had rules we had to follow before we start. Like, no talking and acting crazy while they are spelling. If you spell something wrong and go back and say it right you will still get it wrong. If you can't spell the word you can write it out in the air or write out on your hand. If you need a sentence you could ask for one and the judges will give you one. You could ask for origin, part of speech, and repeat the word. The audience has to be quiet and not move around to distract the contestants. You will also be facing the judges so you won't get nervous facing the audience.

Spelling Bee -Cassius T.

On January 23rd, 2014 we had the 2014 spelling bee!  The spelling bee is always so exciting.  It's also very dramatic and shocking.  Luckily this year's bee had  less tears.  It's really hard to hold in your emotions on stage and you want to FLIP OUT if you get a word wrong.  Then when someone whom you want to win gets out you also flip out.  So you usually do not get bored during the spelling bee.  I mostly like going to the spelling bee. (:

I finally beat Pokemon X - Remi

I finally beat Pokemon X. It was a long adventure through Kalos.

I found Mew Two  in  the cave at the Pokemon  town.

It took a long  time to beat the 8th  gym  but  I won.

I also beat all the bad guys and AZ too.

I can't wait for the next game to come out next year.

P. E - Hayyah

In P.E we are doing basketball and getting ready for the fitness test in March. So far we are doing basketball drills and practicing dribbling. We are also are practicing for the fitness test by stretching past our feet and doing the pastry run. The pastry run is when you have to run from one side of the gym to another before you hear the sound of a bell. Each time it gets faster and faster. If you don't make it from one side to another you missed that lap, and once you get tired you can stop running. Every age has to run a certain amount of laps to pass. We are also doing push-ups and sit-ups. I am ready and confident that I will pass, although I'll probably be really tired after the pastry run.

Basketball-Danaya

Today our class went to P.E.. We had to do basketball. It was fun. The only part I hated was when we had to do sit ups. But other wise every thing else was very fun. The things we had to do was practice passing the ball.

Otherwise I also do basketball at the Boys and Girls club. It is very awesome because you have to make 1oo shots sometimes when you first get there. Another thing is you get to do your own practice when the boys have to practice.

The Tooth Fairy Lady -Ietta

On Thursday the 9th, The Tooth Fairy Lady came!  She was dressed in scrubs with Minnie         Mouse on it and sparkly pink and purple wings.  I call her Kim the Magical Tooth Fairy!  She works at a dental van that comes to our school a few times a year.

We`watched a video that was about kids who went to the dentist and the dentist told them a story about germs taking over the tooth kingdom, four tooth knights battling the germs kingdom, and the tooth kingdom won.

The Tooth Fairy kept reminding us to brush our teeth twice a day, go to the dentist twice a year, and it is most important to brush your teeth at night.  That was basically all we did with Kim the Magical Tooth Fairy.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day ---Cassius T

On January 15th we celebrate MLK Jr. day.  Or the day Martin Luther King Jr. was born.  We celebrate Martin Luther King  Jr. day because of the improvement of peace and happiness he put in America.  He also led part of the civil rights movement by giving speeches and leading long marches and protests.  He wanted to improve the lives of African Americans and their rights.  He did this all with peace and NO violence.  Also on the exact day we have the day off from school.  Thank You Martin Luther King Jr.

Writing Test -Anaiya A.

March fifth is when we are having the fifth grade writing test. In the beginning of fifth grade, after math we would just come back to our homeroom to do writing. Now we have  mixed groups in different writing classes so it can help us for the writing test. In fourth grade we did a practice writing test, so we can get ready for the real one in fifth grade. In Mrs. Stokes' class we have been doing opinion writing. The topic was whether you should wear uniforms or not wear it. My opinion is to wear uniforms.

BREAK IS OVER -CASSIUS T.

Sadly after a relaxing 2 weeks of no school we are back.  I was REALLY mad when I came to school on Monday.  It's the same schedule as it used to be. Ex. Wake up when the first ray of sunlight comes through the front door. Then you go through all of this not comfortable stress when rushing to get ready for school.  The only exciting news on Monday was there was NO school on Tuesday.  Otherwise i guess I'll have to put on my big kid pants on and DEAL with it.

Getting Ready For 6th Grade - Hayyah

This school year is almost over and 5th is transiting to 6th grade. I am really looking forward to the rest of the year but, I can't wait to go to middle school! Our teachers are getting us preparing by making us better writers, and doing more math. I'll probably  start of middle school shy but then get used to it. I really hope my friends are in some of my classes. I belive I'm going to Clarke Middle with my brother but he is already in eight grade and is about to graduate so I'll be all by myself. Before I start thinking bout 6th grade I better enjoy 5th.
