P.E is a special in fifth grade. P.E stands for physical education and that is where you exercise by playing fun games like tag and throwing games. We also do fitness that we have to do for health like the pacer run and the push up test that most people don't like, but I, Jack, will always like it because I love to exercise. It is fun.

Dead Cat-Daisy

My cat Doc died on Wednesday. He had a heart worm.  It would be really expensive to get medicine, and he would live a miserable life. My brother cried for 3 hours. I miss my cat. I got him 5 years ago for my 5th birthday (I am 10 now). He lived to be 25 years in cat years. He was born on March, 4th 2009. He had  a sister named Coco that we bought too! She is still alive. This is what he sorta looked like when he was a kitten.

MLK Project By Julian

In the library this week we are doing something special. We are entering into a contest a piece of writing or artwork that expresses how we can make Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream come true. Winners will be recognized at a Board meeting, as well as the University of Georgia's annual Freedom Breakfast, which I think is really cool. Most people in my class are doing artwork but I am doing writing, I am writing about littering because I want to fight that like MLK fought segregation.

Civil War Trunk by Julia L.

In 5th grade, we are talking about the Civil War. There is a cool trunk that Mrs.Upchurch found on a cool website. A bunch of schools borrow it for a week. It just gets shipped to UPS when our week is over! It had lots of cool pictures, old comics, clothes, and other things like gear! It was really cool! The comics were old, but it showed us what was funny in the 1800's. It was neat! There were a few clothes like, dresses, hats, shoes, jackets, and a few other things like that. We could try them on!!! It was awesome! (and funny!) There was some old bullets, cotton, and old books! Everything was really neat! They were all copies of the REAL things, but they were all very realistic! We all enjoyed it a lot! It taught us a few things we didn't know about the Civil War!

No Idea-Daisy

I have no idea what to write. So I will write about not knowing what to write. This post will probably be the most boring one of all time!!!!!!!! I recently found out that we do not have school on Monday Oct. 13. All because a dude that did not even discover America. :(  He needs to rise from the dead so we can sue him. He even mistook America for India!

The Watsons Go To Birmingham By Caleb

Hi, my name is Caleb. I'm reading The Watsons Go To Birmingham and I like to read this book. This book is talking about  their mother from Alabama. Their conflict is in Michigan.  It is cold outside and it is -20 degrees up North . They were holed  up in the family room  on the couch. Then, dad was watching the news on the TV . I can make a connection  to the book, when it was cold outside we got to holed up in the blanket. My favorite part in  the book because this guy  said to the family" I heard about the news up North it is going to be cold."

Book fair by Julia L.

We have 2 book fairs every year. They are always a week. This year's book fair is in October. There are always good books to pick out! For younger kids, the  book fair has LOTS of picture books! There are also lots of chapter books, journals, cookbooks, how-tos and many more books! If you are 2-16 I think you will definitely find a good book for you! Book fair is very fun!

Clubs By Julian

The club that I am in is chess. It is super fun. We are doing a tournament right now I am moving on to the second round of the tournament which is cool. The reason that I chose chess club is because chess is a thinking sport and I really like that. I have to think about what my opponent is doing and what I am going to do when my opponent moves and that is why I chose chess club.

Clubs by Julia

Every Friday, we have clubs at Chase. But only 4th and 5th grade has clubs. At the beginning of the year, we picked clubs. We had 5 choices- Chorus, Engineering, Art/drawing, Chess, and Team Sports. I am in Engineering this semester, and Art next semester. We picked clubs by picking our 1-5 favorite choices. It took a loooong time for the teachers to put us in clubs, so it was very nice of them to do that!!! Clubs are really fun!!!

Clubs by Brighton

I am in the Art club and it is awesome! I love art SO much! I wish clubs were longer! Today in art we worked on 2 point perspective. It was kind of hard but still fun! I am looking forward to our 2 big projects! I cant tell you what they are yet,but they are amazing!

Fifth Grade Cell Pizza By Caleb M.

Hi my name is Caleb. I'm in Mrs.Stokes's class. When I was learning about cells, I got a chance to make cell pizza. We  put the bread first .Then, I put  the sauce on top of the bread . I decided  to have the pepperoni  as an ingredient. Then , we put  olives on the  pizza and I don't like olives.  At last , I put on peppers. Then, Mrs.Stokes  had to heat up the cell pizzas. We ate  our pizza  the next day. The toppings showed the parts of the cell.

Scantron and Other things- by Daisy J.

16 people in 5th  grade had to take the math and reading Scantron. Including me. Plus side: I got to skip my least favorite subject, writing. Down side: had to actuality take the test. Our progress reports are coming out soon. I am jumping off the walls in anticipation and chewing my nails off with dread! Let's go back in time... I hate writing because it takes a lot of waiting. Let's go back in time again. I am dreading report cards because it lets your parent know how you are doing in school! Torture!

Fifth Grade by Jack

  • Fifth grade rocks. It is awesome, but it is still easy. I eat a home lunch when I go to lunch. Being a blogger makes school really fun. I like school because I am having a lot of friends that are really fun to hang out with when I see them at school. I also like the things we are also doing in school that is fun. We are learning really cool subjects in school like learning about the five kingdoms in the animal kingdom and a lot about vertebrates and invertebrates.

Review of 14 Cows for America by Cash (Shared by Julia)

In the library, we read 14 Cows for America, by Carmen Deedy. This is Cash's review of it.

Cash's review

(And here is my review!)

By Julia L.
14 Cows for America by Carmen Deedy, is about a boy named Kimeli who studies in NYC to be a doctor. He visits his tribe in Africa, and tells them about the Twin Towers incident, and the tribe blesses 14 cows for America. Always respect people who respect you. I am always nice to people who are nice to me. America respected the tribe, and the tribe respected America.

Review for 14 Cows For America By Louise (Shared by Julian)

In the library this week we read the book 14 Cows for America after that we wrote reviews about the story. This is my friend Louise's review.

Louise's review

And here is my review

By Julian A.
The book 14 Cows for America by Carmen Deedy is about a person named Kimeli who goes to New York and witnessed 9/11, then came back to his tribe the Maasai in Kenya. They blessed 14 cows in honor of America. I think the theme of this story is even if it is something you care about always be able to give it away to make somebody happy. I made a lot of connections when I read this book, like when something bad happened to me some friends gave stuff to me. This book reminded me to be able to give something away for happiness.

All About Jack

Fifth grade so far has been easy ,but sooner or later it will be a struggle, because people have told me fifth grade is the hardest grade. I really so  love being a blogger , my favorite subject is math.My teacher's name is Mrs.Stokes.I went to Hollywood for summer break .I have been at Chase Street for five years.

All About Brighton

my name Brighton I am in Mrs. England's class.I have been a student at Chase for a year this is my second year. Fifth grade is fun because we can do fun things because we have more responsibility. But there is to much homework! This summer was action packed! First I traveled to Florida to spend the summer(like I do every year)and I went to main,Universal Studios,Orlando and more!I really like swimming, rock climbing and trapeze.I wonder what this year will be like!

All About Daisy

My homeroom teacher is Mrs. England. This is my first -and last- year at Chase Street. 5th grade has been cool so far I really like the Library. But I don't like is the actual learning part. Over the summer I did not go anywhere do anything or see anybody (sarcasm). This is my first year ever at a public school, I used to go to a Montessori school.

All About Caleb M.

I'm  in Mrs.Stokes Class. I've been in Chase Street School  since kindergarten.I love doing math.I don't like to go outside.Over the summer I went to Disney World.I love to learn about everything.

All about Julia!

I am Julia! I am a 5th grade blogger this year! My homeroom teacher is Mrs. Wilcox, and she's AWESOME!!! This is my 5th and final year of Chase! Chase Street is great! I really like being in 5th grade because I am the oldest in the school! I also like being a blogger! But one reason I don't really like 5th grade is, I really like this school, so I wish I could be here longer! I went to few water parks, and I got a dog over the summer! Her name is Coco! I love to skate, swim, and play with my dog!

All About Julian

My homeroom teacher is Mrs. Wilcox, I have been at chase street for 7 years. One thing I don't love about fifth grade is that we have a lot of homework and a lot of responsibility. One thing I do love about fifth grade is that all the teachers are really nice and the students are really cool. One thing I did over the summer is I went to a overnight camp for three weeks  and we had a lot of night activities like capture the flag, dances, it was super fun. One interesting fact about me is that I am a national state swimmer. My favorite event in swimming is the 200 i.m.
