Not Going to Be Posting For A While

We are leaving for winter break so I won't be posting again until 2017! Its almost a new year and its crazy how fast the year went by. There are many things that happened this year I turned 11, I went to Colorado, I went to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family in Boston and when I was there I did indoor SURFING it was so fun. My big brother went indoor sky diving, and my little brother went indoor rock climbing. It has been a really fun year with my family and friends. I hope next year is just as fun as the year that has passed.

Christmas Sing-Along and 5th Grade Potluck!

Hi everyone! It's Lilly here, and today I'm blogging about the sing-along and 5th grade potluck! It's happening next week (12/16/16) and I'm really excited! The sing-along is where we all wear our PJs and go to the gym to sing holiday songs (eg., Jingle Bells, I Have a Little Driedl, and Feliz Navidad)! The 5th grade potluck is where all the 5th graders go to Ms. Thompson's room, bring breakfast food, and watch a movie, and I'm going to bring yogurt! My pajamas at the sing-along will be my Sailor Moon T-shirt, and sweatpants. See ya!

How my LAST MUSICAL Went

We had two different performances, one during school and one after school. First the music club performed. Our first song was "Can Drumming" in which I was the leader, and also Eli and I sang the song "Santa's on his Way" while the rest of the group did boomwhackers.  When the actual musical started, one of my classmates got sad and scared so I helped out with that. When we got done with all of our songs, everyone commented on what a great job my friends and I did. It was pretty fun.

Projekt 1065

Projekt 1065 is a book that we all got at our school and we are getting to read. Also we are reading it in class, and then we are Skyping the author next Monday. We have been reading it with our teachers in class and it is suppose to have great ratings. In this book, there are a lot of good cliffhangers, and when you stop at he end of a chapter, you want to keep reading the book. In the book, the main character is Michel O'Shaunessey. He is from Ireland, and he is a spy pretending to be a Nazi.

ELLIS ISLAND!!!

In 5th grade we are learning about Ellis island, and later we will do a simulation like we are people escaping from different countries. Mrs. Hudson even had some relatives that came to Ellis Island from Sicily. There were the parents Natale and Carolina Russo. and their 4 kids, Salvatore, Ignatious, Carmella, and Marie were born after coming through.

In library the other day we all got to choose between 3 countries that in the simulation we would have come from as immigrants. The 3 countries were Ireland, Germany and Italy. I got Germany and when I was researching I found out that Germans have a TERRIBLE ship ride unless you're wealthy, then you're in relative comfort but they let most Germans in partly because there were already lots of Germans that have settled here.

Here are some pictures of Ellis Island (there is also a link a video on Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty).

Author Visit

5th grade is having a spectacular author visit on Skype with Alan Gratz the author of Prisoner B-3087, and his new book PROJECT 1065.  We will be Skyping Mr. Gratz, Monday at 1:30 pm. Most of the classes have read more than a hundred pages of the book. From those hundred pages I recommend this book for everyone. I rate this book a 5-star book, although it may have some challenging German words in it, it is so fun to read. He was so nice to sign each and every one of our books by hand, that is 68 autographs. He has also written Code of Honor, Samurai Shortstop, and The Brooklyn Nine.

School Musical

At school we performed a musical. It was called ''December 'Round the World'' and it was on the day of December 6th. It was about different people and places around the world and what they celebrate.  Some of the people in our blog were actually in the musical like Madison W., Lilly M., and Nico C. Some of the places in the world that we performed about were America, Germany, and Japan, and we also sang about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Las Posadas, Ramadan, and St. Nicholas Day. Personally I think that the musical turned out really well.

My LAST Musical!

I have my last musical on December 6, and my part is to sing "It's December 'Round The World" in Japanese. It's fun so far and we are practicing a lot. I really like most of the songs but some are hard to remember. We are kind of excited to sing in the play on December 6, but I'm also a little bit embarrassed. (I'm mostly excited, though.)

Musical

"December 'round the world, December 'round the world!"

Okay, okay, I will stop singing.

The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades of Chase Street Elementary are presenting a Christmas musical on the sixth of December, starting at 6:30 pm. This is sadly my last musical at this school, and many others as well. So we will promise to put on an outstanding musical. The musical is all about Christmas all around the world. Like Hanukkah, Saint Nicholas Day, Las Posadas, Ramadan, pickle in a tannenbaum, and Chinese New Year.

So why don't you come all down to Chase Street Elementary, and be amazed at the best musical ever!
