Drugs and I Don't Mix

At my school this week we had Red Ribbon Week. Today we had a mixed up clothes day and I am totally mixed up. Yesterday we had pajama day and Monday we had wear red day. Tomorrow it is the last day of the week because of fall break, and it is twin day. The main idea of Red Ribbon Week is to be drug free. I hope all the people who take drugs stop.

Red Ribbon week

Good Afternoon guys,
It has been a crazy few days with red ribbon week activities, lots of homework, and tons of halloween decorating and costume preparing. For Red Ribbon Week, we celebrate being drug free by dressing up every day based on a different theme. On, Monday we dressed up in all red to be festive for red ribbon week. On, Tuesday, we got to wear....PJS! On, Wednesday (today) we are able to wear mis-matched clothes! On, Thursday we will wear matching clothes and be identical with one of our friends....YOU ARE TWINS!!! On, Friday we have no school!  A four-day weekend. I'm so excited for the fall break.

                                                              Sayonara :-)
                                                           And see you later!
                                                                   Charlotte M.

(Check out my mis-matched clothes!!!)

Red Ribbon Week

Γεια σου,
This week we had Red Ribbon week to celebrate being drug free. On Monday, everybody wore red. On Tuesday, everybody wore their pajamas. On Wednesday, today, we incorrectly matched our clothes. On Thursday, tomorrow, we have to come to school dressed alike as another human being. On Friday, guess what..... NOOOOOOOOO SCCCCCCHHHHHOOOOLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!
The reason we have no school on Friday is because we have Fall Break!! We have four full days to ourselves! What are you going to do on your Fall Break? Leave a comment down below!

Red Ribbon Week

Moi! (That's Estonian.)

Today I am going to write about an event that is going on right now and is really fun and teaches kids that drugs are not cool...RED RIBBON WEEK!!! This week we are dressing crazily under topics to celebrate being drug free. Monday was a red-out day where you wore red shirts, socks, shorts and everything in between! Tuesday was a day where you could get out of bed and come straight to school... you got it! Pajama day! Wednesday is mismatched day! And Thursday will be twin day!

Each day has a drug free catchphrase: Wear red and be drug free, Drugs don't shatter my dreams, Drugs and I don't mix, and Friends help friends be drug free.  (You can probably guess which catchphrase goes with the topic!)

Anyway, the week has been, is, and will be really fun and I hope you enjoy your week, too!
Näkemiin!

Family Skate Night

On Tuesday October twenty-seventh, there was Family Skate night at Athens Skate Inn! It was a lot of fun and it was cool to see some of your teachers out of school. They had a lot of awesome songs playing and they had a girl skate and a boy skate. Also they had fun game like a dice rolling game and skating races. They also have a food court and arcade games. We could also wear our Halloween costumes and I liked to see what other classmates are going to be for Halloween. At the skating rink there was only Chase Street kids so there were not strangers that you didn't know. There is another skate night in the spring so I recommend that you go!

Red Ribbon Week

This week 10/26-10/29 is Red Ribbon Week. Monday was wear red day, Tuesday was pajama day, Wednesday is mis-matched day, and Thursday is going to be twin day. Red Ribbon Week is about being drug free. Since you're drug free you get to dress wacky to school. This week has been crazy, colorful, and short. Ms. Ballard goes around taking pictures of wacky kids in wacky clothes. I love Red Ribbon Week!

All About Me

My homeroom teacher is Mrs.Stokes. I have been at Chase Street for six years. One thing I like about 5th grade is the time we go to specials because it's a good way to start the morning. One thing I do not like about 5th grade is that recess is very short. Last summer I went to a lake and an island. This year I might be the best soccer player in the school.

Halloween

Boo!

Did I scare you? Do you know what the spookiest day of the year is? HALLOWEEN!!! Good morning ghastly creatures.  How are you? Are you going to get tricked or treated this devious time of year? I might get both...

So what are you going to be for halloween? I am going to be a fairy. Maybe an evil one. Tommy is going to be a ghostbuster with his family, Penelope is going to be a puppet from Five nights at Freddy, Bird is going to be zombie girl, Frenya is going to be someone from the 70s, and Josie's is a mystery.

I'm very excited to get some more candy, especially fun dip!  My parents usually go out with a group of their friends for Halloween. This time they are going to be dressed as the game Pac-man, and so is Mrs. Hudson's family.

Have a happy, happy Halloween!

                                                                 Goodbye.....For Now!

Halloween!

Tere! It's a good day to read a blog! Today I am going to write about a holiday that gives you shivers and thoughts about candy! HALLOWEEN!!! Some people may have a costume idea, but if you still are deciding, here's a couple ideas due to my fellow bloggers!

1: Zombie girl
2: Someone from the 70's
3: Fairy (sparkly)
4: Puppet
5: Ghostbuster
6: Emily from the Corpse Bride

Those were ideas that my fellow bloggers had and were possibly going to be. They are not copyrighted, so feel free to take ideas from this list. So, I hope you enjoy your Halloween candy, costume, and this blog.
Avoir une belle journée,

IT'S HALLOWEEN!!!  Parents, get ready for some sugar hungry children!!!! Yep, it's that time of year again, so get excited! Are you going to get a treat, or are you going to get tricked...?

If you still haven't decided on a costume, here are some costumes to get your mind set on a really cool costume to impress your friends and family!

 2. Cover yourself in purple balloons and call yourself a bunch of grapes
 3. Make a trash can out of silver poster board and dress up as Oscar the Grouch
 4. You could dress up as a nerd
 5. You could dress up as one of the guys from the band Daft Punk

      Have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN,

Halloween and Fall Break

Halloween and Fall Break are both coming soon, and I did not forget about the Georgia game against Florida. Just so you know Georgia is going to lose because Florida has the best running back in the SEC conference. Also, Ohio State is going to win it again! GO BUCKEYESOK, now about Halloween, I'm going to be a Ghostbuster along with my mom and dad. But my brother is going to be the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Happy Halloween!

Benchmark Testing

Next week we are having benchmark testing! I am not very happy or excited because that is the week of our fall break and I want that week to be fun. If you did not know, the benchmark is a test that you have to take twice a year and they just show how you are progressing in school. I do not remember my previous benchmark tests because I have been trying to block them out.  I do not want to spend time that we could be using for fun activities on a very long and boring test. See you after the test!

                                                             Bye, Josie T.

Book Fair

Book fair was 10/13/15-10/16/15. The book fair was awesome but short. I wish book fair was a whole month. At the book fair, I got seven books, about six erasers, and two bookmarks. The books I got at the book fair are Moving TargetPublic School Hero, Woof, Big Nate, and The Lost Track of Time. I have started reading Big Nate and Moving Target. I think that Moving Target is a great book because a girl name Cassie is wanted by a group of people and she is scared. I loved the book fair! But now the book fair is all packed up and I am sad. :(

Georgia Museum of Art

Yesterday, all of 5th grade took a field trip to the Georgia Museum of Art. It was a fascinating experience, because we got to look at a lot of different paintings, and all of them used different styles and mediums. Some of the paintings that we got to see were called "My Forbears Were Pioneers" and "The Secret." We also got to go into the sculpture garden where they had work by Alice Aycock. After we visited the sculpture garden we got to make our own art inspired by hers. Once we finished our tour, we ate lunch on the lawn at the museum. The picture below is one of the sculptures by Alice Aycock that they had on display at the museum. It is called Twists and Turns.

Book Fair !!!

Hola,

Hi guys, I can't wait for Book Fair! It is almost here. The Book Fair truck just arrived with the Book Fair set-up.

We just watched the Book Fair video which previewed a ton of books that looked very interesting. I found a book called Dork Diaries and it looks really cool. I also saw a book by Poison Apple which looks awesome!

Every year there is a theme for the book fair; this year it is monsters and it makes sense because it is almost Halloween!

Also there are little bookmarks and posters which are not so small.

I can't wait to start reading!

Glowforge

Hallo! Today I am going to blog about another futuristic device that our STEM lab teacher, Mr. Sugi, told us about. It is called a Glowforge. Like a 3D printer, you can have it in your house, but instead, it carves things out; not building things out of plastic. You can carve cardboard, engrave metal, and even carve crazy things like chocolate, or engraving your laptop! The Glowforge doesn't cut with saws or knives, it cuts or engraves with laser technology. I think that it sounds amazing and I would love for Chase to get one!

Cheerio!

Soccer

On Wednesday I had a soccer game with fellow bloggers Charlotte M. and Bird S., and it was so much fun because Ms. Thompson and Mrs. Wilcox came to our soccer game! On the other team there was a girl who was goalie and she was about two feet taller than everyone else, and she kicked really hard. Also everyone got hurt! One girl got a ball to the face, and another girl's arm got so badly hurt that she had to leave! The end score was 2 to 4 so we lost but it was still fun!

All About Me

Dear Readers,

Hi! My name is Penelope Anderson, and I am new to blogging. I am very excited to be in blogging, because I love to write. Here are some things about me:

1. My homeroom teacher is Mrs. Stokes.

2. I have been a student at Chase Street for 15 weeks.

3. The thing I love about being in 5th grade is all the new things that we get to learn, but the thing I don't like about being in 5th grade is all the homework we get.

4. One thing I did over the summer was I went to Maryland for my aunt Elizabeth's wedding.

5. An interesting fact about myself is that I play the violin for an extra curricular actvity.

Book Fair

The book fair is almost here! I cannot wait for it to be unpacked! I saw it when I was going into the library to do my work. When I saw the video about it I already knew what I was going to get. I'm excited about the books that are coming in because the books that I own I have read, and I am dying for a new book to read.   Ms. Hudson got 150% of the books we normally get. But we get more books to choose from which is a very good thing.

My MLK Project

https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8356/8288453263_8e07161886.jpg
Hello. This is part of my entry for the the MLK contest. Kids had a choice to do a writing piece or an art piece by telling a problem in the world and how we can solve it.

There are many students are being bullied at schools today. Kids and some adults have this problem. It affects a person’s  emotional feelings and physical feeling. An example of bullying is that a kid wearing the same clothes every week and another kid noticed and the kid that noticed told that person and that kid felt really sad. That’s how a kid can be affected emotionally.

Another example of bullying  is  a person said that a kid is overweight and that kid overheard and the person felt like he/she should not be their size. That’s called body shaming or physical feeling about that person’s body. Most of the time people who bully have been bullied. It makes that person sad and other people who know and love that person sad. Last example of bullying is if that person didn’t want to do what everybody else was doing they would think that person or kid was weird or different This example of bullying is called “that person is wired.”

I am finished but this is not all of it. I love this project!

Real World Problems

You and most other people around you probably don't notice them as much as other people, but there are many flaws to our imperfect world. This world has so many problems that don't necessarily affect you, but they do affect others. Some of these problems consist of  medical expenses, world pollution, homelessness, and equal rights. There are many ways that you can help like: donating to food banks, picking up/throwing away your trash, recycling/composting as often as possible, and whenever you see people on the side of the road holding up signs at least acknowledge them, whether you give them something or not.

Contest

Hi there!

Today I'm going to write about something that we talked and wrote about in library. We are learning about global problems and what we could do to help those problems. You had to choose a worldwide problem like homelessness, people who can't provide their families with food or clothes, and one that I'm sure most of you know; GLOBAL WARMING

I chose the problem of sickness, and people who can't buy good medicines or pay for a doctor. We were then asked to choose a project that was either making an art piece or writing about your problem in an informational way or making a poem about it.

We also were excited when we were informed that, by our choice, we could enter our project in a contest. Now, you might want to take into account that most of our class was extremely excited to the idea of a contest, so a chorus of profound gasps echoed along the walls. You could almost see light bulbs flickering over everyone's heads! Your project had to be creative and unique, so the gears started turning as ideas sparked towards the contest.

                           Adios Amigos!

Fall

Hey y'all,
I am so psyched about the beginning of fall. I can't wait to get a pumpkin and get those delicious  pumpkin cookies from Fresh Market. I like the cool weather a lot, except that some of my soccer games are getting canceled a lot. There are a lot of  holidays such as Halloween and Columbus Day! I am not so glad about Columbus Day, but people celebrate it. I love the leaves that are falling; they are so beautiful. It is also football season, GO DAWGS!!! I also am so excited for the opening of the Halloween stores except they are very scary and spooky! I can't wait for the beginning of Fall.
                                                                 Happy Fall!

Starry Night

I am so pumped for our field trip to the Georgia Museum of Art, I feel like my head is going to explode! I can't wait to see some really good art! The thing I wan't to see is some Vincent Van Gogh's art work. My favorite of his art is Starry Night. I hope they have a copy there. Starry Night is my favorite because the technique he used really grabs my attention. He used swirly brush strokes to make the stars. Also the mountain to the left is really cool.

Science

In science we are now learning about classification. Classification is what scientists use to identify animals. Right now we are focusing on vertebrates and invertebrates. A vertebrate is an animal that has a back bone, and an invertebrate is an animal that does not have a backbone. We are also learning about mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, and amphibians. This is not my favorite subject just because I am more interested in history. I am looking forward to learning more about birds because I think that they are interesting and I am researching a bird for my animal research project. I am not looking forward to learning about fish because I am terrified of sharks.

                                                                      Bye, Josie.T

BOOK FAIR

Book fair is almost here! Yeah! I can't wait till we get new books for the library, and for my library at home. Hopefully there will be books that everyone likes. You can find funny books, probably scary books, and fiction and nonfiction books. Last year I got a fiction book called Whatever After.  I can't remember which one from the series. Next week we are going to watch the book fair video. I think that the book fair will be great like always.
