Tallulah Gorge

Hallo! Ik hoop dat je een goede dag tot un toe!

Yesterday the 5th grade went on an amazing field trip to... Tallulah Gorge! It was so fun, especially when we went on the suspension bridge over a waterfall! One of the huge waterfalls that Tallulah Gorge bears, actually. I was in a group with people including fellow bloggers Tommy H. and Charlotte M. The only bad part about the trip was the huge amount of stairs that we had to go on to get to the suspension bridge. The trip down wasn't bad, since you could jump down and skip steps. The journey up was the worst! It was so exausting and there were 1,200 steps to go on! Anyways, those were some memorable experiences! I hope you had a good day!

Vaarwel!

Tallulah Gorge

Hello!
It's finally spring! It's also the perfect time to go to........ Tallulah Gorge! We had a class field trip to Tallulah Gorge two days ago, and it was awesome! It was super nice out, and it looked SO pretty! I think I can say all of fifth grade had a good time, and when we were going home on the bus, everyone was really tired! I would definitely recommend going there for a vacation, as long as you're willing to walk a lot! We all split into different groups, and took A LOT of photos! We went to the power plant, hiking, and a presentation about rocks and minerals! Here are some of the photos from Ms. Thompson and Mrs. Wilcox from their groups!
                                          Bye!

April Fools!

Happy April 1st! HAHAHAHA! Just kidding! It's still March 31, 2016. Unless you see my blog tomorrow or any other time besides today just ignore the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th sentences.

Well, back on track, yesterday me and all the other 5th graders went on a field trip to Tallulah Falls! The only scary part of the field trip was on the cable car, it was slow, TILTED, oh, and did I mention, TERRIFYING. But other than the cable car  everything was awesome. We went to the dam, control room, went over a wobbly bridge, and watched a video. It was an amazing field trip!

Easter

Hi!

So, last week was Easter I got a yoga mat, tons and tons of chocolate, and more. Josie got chocolate and candy and a stuffed animal, Tommy got a badminton set and a volleyball, Owen got an iPad case, Penelope got CHOCOLATE, Bird got a gift card and candy, Melvie (Mrs. Hudson's daughter) got bubbles and some books. My sister's birthday was the 21st of March too; it was awesome and we had an Easter egg hunt, a beautiful spring setting to eat lunch in, and badminton. I love Easter because you can eat a lot of CANDY and sweets!
Cheers,
Char

Milestones, CRCT, and APRIL FOOLS DAY

The Milestones is the test that replaced the CRCT. The CRCT was better because it was not on the computer. The Milestones are 5 days. The subjects we are taking are Social Studies, Science, Math, and ELA. Last year, the people of the company said some of the answers did not go through but they did. We will get our scores back 10 days after testing. We got our scores from last year in October.

Tomorrow is April Fools. April Fools Day is when you get a day of pranking people. A few of my classmates and I have an awesome trick to prank Ms. Thompson. If you are reading this, Ms. Thompson, I am not going to say what the prank is. Ha ha ha.

Tallulah Gorge

Two days ago we got to see Tallulah Gorge. We got to see all sorts of cool things.

http://www.public-domain-image.com/free-images/fauna-animals/insects-and-bugs/butterflies-and-moths-pictures/luna-moth-insect-actias-luna-363x544.jpg

That is a picture of a Luna moth. We got to see one hibernating right when we got there! It stayed there the entire time we were there. We got to play games, go on hikes, and watch a short film. We learned about minerals, the dam, and Tallulah Gorge. It was very fun to learn about that. I hoped you liked what I talked about and I will see you later.

Easter!!!

Over the weekend, my family and I went to our neighbor's house and almost the whole neighborhood was there! We first did the Easter egg hunt where I found an egg with five dollars in it, then we ate (we brought deviled eggs and salad), then we played a big game of dodge ball where the parents make a big circle around the kids in the middle and then they have to try and hit the kids with the ball to get them out, and if you get out, you join the parents and try and get people out. My favorite part is always the dodge ball game and the egg hunt. Now I have to what until next year!

                                              Bye, Josie T.

Book Fair

Dag iedereen!
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school soon! We are so excited!!!(The bloggers and I) We get to shop it on Tuesday and Thursday, since conferences are then and we will have our parents with us. We can also go during the school day (with permission) if we bring money. The new books sound even more interesting now that we have watched the Scholastic video and seen all the choices!

Also, today is St Patrick's Day! All of us are wearing green, and we have fiddlers playing at lunch as a fun celebration!

Hope you have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day

Great Day!

I'm feeling green today! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Are you wearing green today? If not, then....PINCH! The clover celebrates this holiday and so do leperchauns and Ireland. It is about luck and the 4 leaf clover. Put some more green on; there can never be enough green. If you want to learn more about St. Patrick's Day then go to this site:

                                                     Bye for now,

SPRING BREAK!!!!

Hello!

Today I am blogging about SPRING BREAK!!! Over my spring break, I went to Florida, Savannah, and Augusta! I spent most of my time in Augusta, but I did spend a good 2 or 3 days in Florida/Savannah. In Florida, I go to go go-carting with my aunt Susan and uncle George! In Savannah, I got to go to the candy shop, and beach with my dad and my aunt, and in Augusta, I went to Chuck-E-Cheese with my god-brother and my godfather! I think my favorite part of spring break was going on a dolphin tour in Savannah! My least favorite part was my mom having to do a bunch of school work, limiting the time we got to spend together, but I still was glad I got to hang out with my mom and her boyfriend! What did you guys do over your spring break? Comment down below! That's all for now! P.S- Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Bye!

BOOK FAIR IS COMING!!!

The book fair is almost here. I can't wait to see all the new books. These are some things at the book fair:

  • books
  • pencils
  • diaries
  • erasers
  • book marks
  • posters
  • journals

I am so excited for book fair. One book I want is The Last Kids On E
arth. There are many things good about book fair. I can not wait!

The book fair ready for Mrs.Hudson to unpack.

BOOKS!!!!

Today I am going to write about a book that I really like. That book is... Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library!!! This book is about a kid named Kyle that competes in a competition where he has to try to escape from a library. I have read this book before and I recently got the second book so I decided to reread the first book because I haven't read it in a while. I definitely recommend this book especially if you really like books and book puns because their are a lot of those in this book.  The second book ( Mr. Lemoncello's Library Olympics) is good so far but I would recommend that you start with the first book.

                                            Bye, Josie T.

Book Fair

Next week is book fair. Book fair has books, posters, erasers, pencils, bookmarks, diaries/journals. A few books that are in the preview are the World Records 2016, The Hero Two Doors Down, and Roller Girl. I think that the previous book fairs were different because it looks like we have more books.  The only book I want in the preview is The Hero Two Doors Down because it is about Jackie Robinson and I like history. Every year I spend at least $50 dollars. At previous book fairs, I went to the book fair every day. I am really excited about the book fair!!!!!!

Book Fair!

Book Fair is here! Posters, books, journals, pencils, bookmarks, and erasers galore! I just watched the Book Fair preview video and so far I want the books Study Hall of Justice and The Last Kids on Earth. I want these books because they have a lot of action and both had an exciting video. And in the Study hall of Justice it has my favorite superhero, Bruce Wayne (Batman).  I'm bouncing off the walls for Book Fair!

Next, is spring break! I think that I maybe going to Florida for spring break, but I'm not sure... In class, we are STILL learning about WWII! In math we are working on 2D geometry, and in reading we are working on our Junior Great Books! Also, the Presidential Debate is going strong! Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are the representatives for the Democrats and Republicans. That's all for now!
                             Adios,
                                  Penelope the Fifth Grader

Dr. Seuss week!!!!

The more that you read, the more things that you'll know, the more that you learn, the more places you'll go!

Hi there guys,

I am going to tell you a little about this week! It is Dr. Seuss's birthday, so we have different days of the week. Monday was Cat in the Hat day (put on a hat), Tuesday was Fox in Socks day (wear CRAZ-ZY socks), Wednesday was Oh, the Places You Will Go Day (wear a shirt of a place around the world), and today is Red Fish, Blue Fish Day (wear blue and red). Friday is........Pajamas!

So that is the week, hope you will do something special this week, too.

Don't give up, I beleive in you all, a person's a person no matter how small. - Dr. Seuss

                                                       - Charlotte

Bridge Building (ELT)

We dominated the other teams. Our bridge held up 27.2 pounds and the others only held up under 12 pounds. I was amazed because when I saw their bridge I thought it would hold up more, but it didn't. Well, what happened happened. We are going to the district competition. We still have some tweaking to do, but I have confidence.

BOOKS!!!!

Today I am going to write about how I am on the last book of..... A Series of Unfortunate Events series!!!!! The series is about three orphans that face a series of unfortunate events (do you see how they got the title?!).  I really like these books and I recommend them to anyone from the age 8 and above. The only reason that I recommend this book to ages 8 and up is because this series has a lot of complicated and confusing words. There are also 13 books in the series so you have to stick with the series and read it in order or else you will have no idea what is going on. I still think that you should read it!!!

                                                See you later, Josie T.

Adolf Hitler and WWII

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/dc/Adolf_Hitler_cropped_restored.jpg/777px-Adolf_Hitler_cropped_restored.jpg
Adolf Hitler was a German leader during WWII. He led a political party called the National Socialist party, or the Nazis. The Nazis believed in fascism, which is when the government controls the economy, culture, and all parts of people's lives. In 1933, the Nazis took power in Germany. Hitler ruled as a dictator. A dictator is someone who has total power of the whole country and the people who live here. Hitler did not like Jewish people because he thought they were inferior. He started WWII because he invaded Poland even through they had an agreement with Germany to stop invading. Lastly, at the end of the war, he committed suicide because he knew that he was going to be killed.

SPRING BEAK and Dr. Seuss!!!

Everyone is super excited about spring break. Spring break is in 2 days. We were celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday this week. We played fun games in the library. One game we played in the library was the photo booth. We got little attachments that we could use than we got our pictures taken. We also had special food in the cafeteria. That is why this week was so fun.
