Historical Fiction Groups

In the 5th grade we do something called Historical Fiction  groups.

There are 4 groups. Mrs.Wilcox, Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Upchurch, and Ms. Kipling.

All these groups are reading books that relate to what we are learning in social studies. In social studies we are learning about the Civil War.

Do you wounder what is so cool about these books? It is that all of them are from a kids point of view!!!

  3. Historical fiction is definitely my favorite read! How wonderful that you all have this opportunity to get a "feel" for the period of history that you are studying. The fact that it is from a kids perspective will make it all the more real to you. I too, am glad you are enjoying it!

  4. Historical fiction is such a unique way to get a personal look at what happened in history. I agree, Chandler, it is great that all the books are from kids' perspectives! It makes the events easier for us to relate to. History really comes alive when you can put yourself in the shoes of someone who experienced it!
