Volcanoes in Science!!

Today in Mrs.Thompson's science class we made volcanoes!!! It was very exciting time! we got into partners and made our volcanoes. First we got a water bottle and built around it with mulch . Then we poured baking powder into the volcano. After that we put powdered cherry jello into it. Next we put dish detergent in and last but not least vinegar! And it exploded!!! The first volcano made by Brandon and Kenny made... little bubbles. But the seconded one made by Ella and Asa went everywhere!!! It looked like a real volcano! Volcano after volcano, every volcano got better after the next! It was very cool seeing the volcanoes erupt.  Imagine seeing a real volcano!!!

Thank you Mrs.Thompson!

  1. Glad you had fun! We will look at some real volcano footage on Monday in science that I think you will like. I wish we could take a fieldtrip to a real volcano, but I think Bill Nye can show us some :)

  2. Currently there is a volcano erupting in Russia's Far East!

ABC news reported that a volcano erupting in Russia's Far East is sending plumes of gas and ash high into the sky and creating a lava lake.

The Plosky Tolbachik volcano is located in Kamchatka peninsula, hundreds of miles (kilometers) from the nearest residential areas.

Gennady Karpov, a volcano expert at Russia's Academy of Sciences in the Far East, said Friday: "There were no lava lakes at Kamchatka volcanos before now. We have never seen this before."

Plosky Tolbachik has emitted jets of hot lava up to 650 feet (200 meters) high.
