Crochet Stitch Gallery Part 1

Hi, it is Chandler and today I want to teach you guys how to crochet. Crochet is similar to knitting but this craft uses one needle instead of two. I learned how to crochet two years ago with my dad, Grandpa, and several books.

Here is a video of the first six stitches that I think are most important:

I will be making more crochet videos later on.

Spelling Bee Part 1

Hey guys,

So I guess everyone knows that the spelling bee was on Thursday. The students from 5th grade who made it to the spelling bee were Brandon, Paulina, Beatrice, Josie, Amber, and Katie Grace. So for the first few rounds no one was eliminated. Then people started getting eliminated. Soon there were only a few people left. Who will be eliminated next?

To be continued in Joseph's post....

The 100th Day of School

On Wednesday, January 25, 2013, it was the 100 day of school!!! We did not do too much but we did do a fun celebration after school out in the playground.

There was animal crackers and popcorn. And we had a treasure hunt! We had to find frogs around the playground. I didn't find any frogs...

They also had a ribbon cutting ceremony for a brand new pavilion next to the playground. Several parents helped! It turned out awesome!!!

Tuesday, January 15

On Tuesday it was a very important day at Chase Street, because important visitors came to visit the district came and they came to see how the school is doing. They come to every school in the Clarke County every 5 or 3 years.

The 5th grade teachers asked 8 5th graders to get interviewed by them. I was one of them. The man was really nice. He asked questions like: What do you like about your school?, What do you want to change?, Do you have a lot of homework?, and Do the teachers treat everybody equally? And of course we were honest but everything is perfect here!!! So there wasn't any complaints.

Science Fair

Hey guys,

So the science fair is in March and of course I'm entering. The science fair is basically when kids pick what they want to do like an invention. Then they do it and put their information on a tri-fold  board. After that you take the board to wherever the science fair is going to be. Then the judges take a look at your board. If they like it you will probably win. Any way this year I will be doing an invention. So that's all I have to say. Okay bye guys!!!

Carving in Art!

This week Mrs.Thompson and Mrs.Wilcox's class are working on a really fun project in art. We got a photo and drew it on a piece of paper, then we drew it on our rubber, and now we are starting to carve!!! It feels so good!

After we carve it we will print it! With real ink! I cannot wait to see them all printed out!

Back To School!!!

Hey guys,

So winter break is over and school is finally back. To tell you the truth I pretty much missed school over the break , but now that school is back i'm pretty happy. I hope everyone had a Happy New Year.

School started about a week ago and so far a lot has happened. Like on the first week Ms. Hudson said that Battle Of The Books is coming up. The science fair is also coming up.  So why does every thing have to happen on the first week of school? Okay I know I've  been going off topic but why? I get why Battle of the Books was announced this week but what about the science fair? The science fair is in March and now it's January.

Okay, I need to stop going off topic. Anyway a lot has happened since  school started. Like at stem lab all the computers were replaced to net books and a lot of other stuff.  That's all I have to say so bye!!!

Volcanoes in Science!!

Today in Mrs.Thompson's science class we made volcanoes!!! It was very exciting time! we got into partners and made our volcanoes. First we got a water bottle and built around it with mulch . Then we poured baking powder into the volcano. After that we put powdered cherry jello into it. Next we put dish detergent in and last but not least vinegar! And it exploded!!! The first volcano made by Brandon and Kenny made... little bubbles. But the seconded one made by Ella and Asa went everywhere!!! It looked like a real volcano! Volcano after volcano, every volcano got better after the next! It was very cool seeing the volcanoes erupt.  Imagine seeing a real volcano!!!

Thank you Mrs.Thompson!

Battle Of The Books!!!

We are starting Battle of The Books! And this year its coming hard!!!  Harder books, smarter participators, and a bigger audience! There is only going to be five finalists...

Everybody has to read at least two books.  And on Valentines Day we will take a test about the book.  And the five finalists that know the books best will go to a field trip to Clarke Central.  And that will be the district competition. And there will only be one school winner...

The books this year are...         The Borrowers, Deep Dark and Dangerous, Escape, The Cricket in Times Square, Keepers Of  The School, Where The Mountain Meets The Moon, The Red Pyramid, Paint The Wind, War Horse, and Ship Wrecked At The Bottom Of  The World. Those sound like Awesome books to read,  don't you think?

the artist project

Hey guys!

A few days ago 5th grade started a writing project, and every 5th grader gets to pick their own artist to study for a month. I got Pierre Auguste Renoir.

Then in March we are going on a field trip to the High Museum in Atlanta, which I think everybody is excited about.

Well that's all, click the link to read more.
